108 Hanuman Chalisa

The world welcomes the New Year in many ways — with sound, light, and shared celebration. At Bhakti Dham, we also make space to welcome it inwardly. On this threshold between years, we sit in the presence of Ram, Hanuman,  and Maharajji— in remembrance, devotion, and quiet strength. This becomes a space to honor what has passed, soften into what is, and place the year ahead gently into Maharajji’s hands.

Ram Dass once reminded us that we are all just walking each other home. On this night, we are not only walking each other home — we are walking each other into the New Year, together. Through 108 Hanuman Chalisas, we are given a simple opportunity: to pause, to trust, and to begin again — right here, right now.

From our experience over past years, there is something truly special that unfolds. Each devotee’s bhakti journeys inward & personal in their own way, and yet there is a powerful collective energy that holds us all together.

108 Hanuman Chalisas - Details

Doors open at 7:45pm. We begin the evening by invoking Ram ~ 8pm, for it is said that Hanuman arrives wherever Ram’s name is spoken. By approximately 8:30pm, continuous chanting of 108 Hanuman Chalisas begins, offered non-stop through the night. You are welcome to join for all of it, some of it, or simply for a moment — whatever feels right for you. Cushions and chairs will be available, and you’re welcome to bring your own cushion or support if that feels more comfortable for you.

Throughout the night, chai/tea and snackswill be available in the kitchen. There are many ways to continue your sadhana throughout the night. Bhakti Dham will be open as a living space of devotion — with areas to write Ram Ram, journal, read, or sit quietly, and tables and resting spaces spread gently throughout the home. A separate prayer and offering station will be held in the spirit of our Hanuman’s Heroescards for the Sankat Mochan kits, where adults are invited to write prayers, blessings, and words of compassion for our unhoused brothers and sisters for the year ahead. This offers an opportunity to learn about the seva unfolding through Baba’s Helping Hands, and to offer intention, prayer, and love in support of this work.

There will also be a small manifestation corner, similar to last year, gather meaningful items into small jars or boxes — gently calling in your intentions for the year ahead. In the basement, a Maharajji movie will be playing. Also, separate resting area space for anyone who wishes to rest or sleep as the night continues.

As the chanting carries us through the night, we anticipate completing the 108th Chalisa around 9:00 AM, followed by Aarti and a Prasad meal. We’ll share updates via Bhakti Dham WhatsApp Group on our progress and Chalisa count for anyone who wishes to join along the way. You are welcome to bring prasad or snacks to offer and share, if you feel called — this is entirely optional.
